Raw HDR, High Dynamic Range
While
HDR (High Dynamic Range) is becoming MOST popular, there are many people who do not have the equipment or experience to generate suitable image frames to play with this exciting format.
RawHDR.com is here to solve this problem as the first web site on the Internet to offer a growing archive of
suitable, RAW frames with which to produce
HDR images from.
Image set are available for download on a per credit basis, you can
Image sets contain three suitable frames in *.RAF format with 1 F-Stop bracketing and a preview.png image of the center exposure, and are about 50MB's each set (give or take), so you'll probably want to access our services from a broadband connection.
Our image previews are NOT HDR rendered, but rather a fast preview of the center (of three) raw images.

HDR, High Dynamic Range
HDR, High Dynamic Range is a process of squeezing more levels of detailed exposure latitude, into a photo or image than the medium is otherwise able to display.
Exposure latitude is the extent to which a light-sensitive material can be over- or underexposed and still achieve an acceptable result.
The human eye is capable of seeing detail in what is believed to be 14 "stops" of exposure range, while film / photo paper is considered to be capable of only 3 to 5 stops.
An F-Stop is a measurement of light based on the hole (or aperture) in a camera lens. For a full explanation

Increased Dynamic Range
Anyone familar with the 1930's and 40's photographer, Ansel Adams and his most famous Black and White works has already seen what increased dynamic range can result in.
Ansel Adam's "Zone System" is to film, what HDR is to Digital Photography.
While the Zone System is based on altering time and temperatures in the exposure and processing of film, HDR is a process of capturing the widest possible range using multiple exposures and RAW (non-compressed) image formats,
and joining them in varied ways using computer software.
